ZUNI CAFÉ IS A FABULOUS BRICK-OVEN RESTAURANT IN SAN FRANCISCO WITH AN OPEN 2 LEVEL LAYOUT. ENJOY LUNCH OR DINNER AT ZUNI CAFÉ DURING YOUR NEXT STAY AT OUR SAN FRANCISCO HOTEL.
Cooking with fire has been the nucleus of this Restaurant in San Francisco’s bill of fare since they built their brick oven in 1987. Since then, Zuni Café has been a popular choice of Bay Area natives. Zuni, named for a native American tribe, began life in 1979 as a Mexican restaurant complete with adobe interior, has, over the years, morphed into a premier urban space with an open interior layout and floor to ceiling windows.
Stop in and choose from the popular Zuni Caesar Salad, the Devil’s Gulch Ranch rabbit with sweet corn-cranberry bean ragoût, grilled escarole, and mustard sauce, the wood fired, brick oven pizza, or the Santa Cruz King salmon.
Other top picks are the Monterey Bay squid with onions, Sungold tomatoes, basil, and aioli, the Pan-seared Montauk scallops, and their most popular dish, the whole brick oven roasted chicken for two, served with warm bread salad with scallions, garlic, mustard greens, dried currants, and pine nuts. This dish is carefully prepared when ordered, and it takes about an hour to arrive at the table after ordering.
Zuni Café’s oyster and shellfish menu boasts species like Church Point oysters from Washington state, Littleneck clams from Cape Cod, and White shrimp from off the Atlantic Coast. Their impressive wine list includes labels from France, Italy, and the United States. For some great brick oven fare make your way to Zuni Café.
