CAMINO IS A FANTASTIC SAN FRANCISCO RESTAURANT THAT IS A FAVORITE OF BOTH LOCALS AND GUESTS AT OUR HOTEL IN SAN FRANCISCO.
If you like your food to have more of an earthy flavor to it, then you may want to head to Camino, noted for their exclusive use of fire pit grills and wood burning ovens to create their fare. Lauded as an exceptional chef who has an uncommon expertise cooking with fire, Chef Russell Moore opened this San Francisco Restaurant with his partner Allison Hopelain in 2008, and the eatery has achieved a reputation as the restaurant of its kind in the Bay Area.
The unique interior, made up primarily of long wooden banquet tables, is unconventional, as most prefer private tables, but the locals who return again and again do so for the skillful use of fire to create some of the best dishes in the city.
Start out with an unusual quail salad with chicharrónes, beets, fennel, and horseradish or the Smoked oyster frittata with cardoons, fried burdock, and spinach. Camino’s main courses include grilled local king salmon, grilled duck breast, and duck leg-brisket kofte kebab. The wood-oven-baked whole petrale sole with farro, turnips, and wild nettles is another favorite.
Camino also has an interesting dessert menu includes Tunisian orange cake with dates and yogurt, an amazing hazelnut-chocolate cookies with candied pomelo peel. They also have a respectable wine list of champagne, reds, and whites that includes labels from Italy, Spain, the Loire, Rhone, and Burgundy regions of France, Austria and the United States.
