THE FERRY BUILDING MARKETPLACE IS ONE OF MANY POPULAR SAN FRANCISCO ATTRACTIONS LOCATED NEAR HOTEL DIVA.

Ferry Building Marketplace is a farmers market located in the historic San Francisco Ferry Building.

About Ferry Building Marketplace:

The locals seem to regard this place with some reverence. While cities everywhere seem bent on eradicating their own heritage (San Francisco is just completing the demolition of Candlestick Park), the Ferry Building Marketplace, which opened in 1898, was the second busiest ferry terminal in the world for decades. It survived both the 1906 and 1989 earthquakes, and it is now a designated landmark on the National Register of Historic Places.

Some describe how walking into the terminal feels like going back in time due to the atmosphere of the place, and it is a favorite destination for both locals and guests at Hotel Diva.

This San Francisco Attraction houses the city’s best known farmer’s market. Many of the best chefs nearby Restaurants come to the Ferry Building to buy select ingredients for their cuisine, and the locals do too.

As well as being the home of the best farmer’s market in San Francisco, the Ferry Building Marketplace also features some great eateries, specialty grocers, wine shops and cafes.

The Village Market is a general store that carries specialty items including organic baby food, hard to find beers, and local jams and honeys. It’s also a good place for ferry commuters to pick up some quick snacks for their commute.

Bay Crossings is a great place to pick up information, maps and guides for the city. For some great local seafood, stop by Hog Island Oyster Company. This spot is not only a restaurant, but it’s an oyster farm operating under the same name.
