A Message from the Diva Designer
When we worked on The Diva - the primary impression was that the hotel needed to convey sensuality in some manner. For me, hotels are about getting away from every day patterns, a break from one's normal life. They are about sleeping in a new bed, great linens, using as much hot water as you want, room service, getting up late, and having sex in the middle of the day.
I feel like the effectiveness of The Diva came from the design conveying that attitude. The curvaceous metal forms, the cobalt blue carpet - reminiscent of blue velvet, the onyx, that when backlit, makes every one look tan - those are all parts of the imagery.
And just as important, it needs to be new! If we have seen it before then it doesn't engage the imagination, and for it to be really sexy, that has to happen. It needs to be hot and elegant and exotic and a surprise - sort of the perfect one night stand.
